Qi Aerista Smart Tea Brewer Update #29
HEY QI AERISTA FANS!
Here comes our regular project update with the following exciting developments:
Serious Brewer Testing Underway
For the past 2 weeks we have been busy testing all aspects of brewer functionality with our latest batch of brewer samples.
The following shows a demo of 3 brewers making 3 different teas (green, oolong, black) at the same time:
Issues Uncovered - Possible Minor Shipping Delay
We treat this round of testing very seriously because any undetected problem at this stage will propagate to thousands of actual production units rolling off the assembly line in April.
While app bugs can be fixed relatively easily after we launch, the same isn't true for mechanical parts, PCBA and firmware without incurring serious costs, time and effort.
Indeed, several issues were discovered, including loose fittings (in the range of 1-2mm) and component mismatch that can adversely impact product functionality.
While we are confident that these issues will be fixed accordingly, it may take some extra time (e.g. 1-2 weeks) to adjust fittings and source replacement components.
We are working with our manufacturers to resolve these issues ASAP, but please be aware that there is a possibility of a small delay that could push our shipping date into May. We apologize for that in advance if such delays do happen.
Android & iOS App Ready for Beta Download!
After weeks of debugging and hundreds of revisions, we are glad to announce that our app is finally ready for general download for both Android and iOS versions! You can download our Qi Aerista app by scanning the QR code below.
Or you can search for Qi Aerista on the app store. We are working on submitting it to Google Play later this month.
Technically our app is still in beta mode, so please send us your feedback to support@qiaerista.com for any comments or issues you have come across in using the app.
Other Activities
Besides mass production, there are other important activities running concurrently.
Safety Certification - We expect to get our safety certification approved for our brewer by our external accredited lab partner this week. Once approved, it will signal a definitive go-ahead for material ordering and mass production
Patents - We are processing several new patent applications related to interestingly new brewer features. Once completed later this month or early next month, we can reveal you what they are.
User Manual - We have finished the first draft for our user manual, but more details are still needed to be added. Expect it to be done around early April.
Packaging Design - We are taking a no frills approach in packaging design to keep things simple and ensure sturdy protection during shipment. Expect it to be done around early April.
Timeline
Here's our scheduled timeline leading to brewer production and shipment.
- Mid Mar - Completion of safety certification at external labs
- Mar - Materials preparation for mass production
- Early Apr - First pilot production run
- Late Apr - Mass production and shipment
Over the next 2 weeks we will see:
- Continued internal testing for production version brewer samples
- Completion of safety certification testing at external labs
- Beta testing for Android and iOS app
- Work with manufacturing partners to coordinate mass production
- Move forward with patent applications, user manual drafting, packaging design, etc.

As a heavy tea user for more than 40 years, trying to find optimal compromise between easy and fast preparation on onen and the quality of result on another, I backed this project a year and half ago. I hope it will prove me expectations to be best possible compromise.

Do you have anybody copy editing the manual?
For instance, in this letter, there is an error when you say ‘to interestingly new brewer features.’and it should just be ‘interesting’.
