Dark chocolaty and sweets-like aroma with taste that is bold with bitter-sweet aftertaste. This is a delightful black tea for everyday black tea lovers.

Developed in 1959, Ying Hong No. 9 is a relatively new black tea as compared to Lapsang Souchong that was born over 400 years ago.

Teas we consumed today they are cultivated from two major varieties: Camellia sinensis variety assamica and Camellia sinensis variety sinensis. Ying Hong No. 9 is a hybrid propagated using the Camellia sinensis variety assamica and Camellia sinensis variety sinensis cultivar Fenghuang Shuixian.

Recommended Manual Brewing Instructions:

  • 2 heaping teaspoons (2.5g/0.1oz) tea leaves
  • 1 cup (230ml/8oz) water
  • 100oC/212oF brewing temperature
  • 4 minutes brewing time
