Not your ordinary cup of green tea, Mount Huo Yellow Bud presents a richer and less vegetal taste because of an extra step of piling for a short period of time after first bake-drying.
This Mount Huo Yellow Bud (also known as Huoshan Huangya) is still considered as green tea because the short piling process was not meant to turn it into yellow tea (higher oxidation). Instead it is trying to instill this tea with more body and richer taste.
Huoshan Huangya boasts a tea history that can be traced back to the Han Dynasty over 2000 years ago. It has become a tribute tea since the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) Dynasties. Yellow bud is a referance to yellowish green color of the fresh sprout bud.
